The Book of Notebooks records the graphic narratives of Dan Perjovschi through the research of the artist’s archive consisting of more than 250 notebooks. Starting with the 1980s, the notebooks has continued to be the working space where the artist writes down historical facts and everyday events, situations and exhibition moments which have defined his artistic path and which, in a broader sense, have (re)constructed the complex landscape of the Romanian and international society of the past 25 years, bringing to the foreground the (unusual) destiny of the Eastern European artist. The publication succeeds in articulating the sequences of an extremely personal narrative about the fragility of art and the artist’s life, about the fast-changing relationships between art and society, between politics and everyday life, between periphery and center, between engagement and critical attitude towards the art system.
